FRACTIONAL LEASING

Our primary focus at Olson’s Classic Yachts is fractional leasing of American classic yacht originals in the southern Lake Michigan region.  We began our operation in 2001 and have grown with Chicago’s rapidly expanding fractional leasing industry.  We are the nation’s only fractional leasing operation dedicated to sailing American classic yacht originals. 

 

Beyond the boats, our decade of experience has enabled us to hone a fractional leasing operation that suits the varying needs of different sailors. 

 

We do not attempt to make all sailors conform to one type of fractional leasing plan, but have developed a range that suits the needs of sailors with varying skill levels, sailing calendars and budgets. 

 

We offer the true flexibility the rest of the fractional leasing industry aspires to.  We never tell our customers when to sail.  We don’t need to; unlike others in the industry, we never sell our boats to capacity.

INSTRUCTION AND CLUB SAILING

We offer professional instruction from USGC licensed captains who will teach you the essential skills needed to safely take command of a Lake Michigan keelboat, as well as more advanced courses on coastal navigation, night cruising and other topics. 

 

For those who want to get on the water without owning or leasing a boat we offer a SailClub program that allows you to sail with others on a fun and cost effective basis.  Ideal for those looking for sailing partners, new to the sailing world, or simply looking to socialize on the water, SailClub offers a fun and laidback way to get on the water.      

 

RESTORATION

Restoring a classic yacht is no small endeavor and requires hard-to-source expertise, materials and facilities.  Done right, it can be prohibitively expensive and time intensive.  The skill of the craftsmen we work with allows us to bring a boat back to its rightful glory at a significantly reduced cost and shortened timeline.  

 

If you have a classic you love and would like it brought back to life, please contact us.  For as little as $500 to $700 per foot, we can transform it into the boat it was meant to be. 

 

CHARTERING AND CORPORATE SAIL

We do not always introduce the boats we have restored into our fractional leasing fleet their first season, primarily as the restoration process is rarely concluded at the beginning of a given sailing season.  Instead we offer these boats for private charters and corporate events.  The captains we provide for these services are among the most experienced, and engaging, in the Chicago area and we can provide catering to your dining specifications.  Your team and your clients will not soon forget the experience of sailing one of our yachts.  Please contact us for additional details.
